Meet Daniel Barnard: The Story Behind Airedale Finance


Finance shouldn’t feel complicated or impersonal - but for many business owners, it still does.


When I started Airedale Finance my goal was simple, to build a business that genuinely helps people move forward. One built on trust, honest advice, and long-term relationships not just transactions.


My career began at NatWest, where I worked as a Senior Personal Banker. During that time, I supported both individuals and businesses with everything from day-to-day banking to major financial decisions. And it was there I saw how important clear, reliable guidance is when planning for the future. But I also noticed a gap. Many business owners didn’t just want a standard solution, they wanted someone who would take the time to understand their goals and guide them through the process in a straightforward, honest way.


After NatWest, I joined my family’s business, operating across council contracting, agricultural services, and construction. This gave me a completely different perspective. I wasn’t just advising businesses anymore, I was part of one.

I experienced first-hand the pressures business owners face every day managing cash flow, funding equipment, planning for growth, and navigating changing market conditions. More importantly, I saw how the right financial support can give a business the confidence to move forward and grow. That experience is exactly why Airedale Finance exists today.


At Airedale Finance, I work with businesses across agriculture, haulage, construction, manufacturing, food production, leisure, and retail sectors, those which I’ve worked closely with throughout my career. I believe finance should be straightforward, personal, and tailored to each. Individual person and scenario. No two businesses are the same, so no two solutions should be either. Whether it’s funding new equipment, supporting diversification, securing a commercial mortgage, or investing in renewable energy, the approach remains consistent:

-Listen first.
-Understand the business.
-Then find the RIGHT solution, not just the quickest one.


Over the years, I’ve supported businesses with a wide range of funding requirements, helping them unlock growth, improve cash flow, and invest in their future with confidence. Outside of work, I’m passionate about supporting local businesses and contributing to the continued growth of our region. Seeing clients achieve their goals is one of the most rewarding parts of what I do.
